Review Your Dog’s Dimensions
We ask for weight, body length, standing height and width.
UniPetrans helps plan international travel for Miniature and Standard Dachshunds, with particular attention to body length and carrier fit.
Small dog, unmistakable presence. If you share your life with a Dachshund, you may know that curious nose and determined approach to exploring the world.

Whether you call them a Dachshund, Teckel or sausage dog, we start with the individual animal and the journey ahead.
We ask for weight, body length, standing height and width.
We review the proposed travel bag or kennel and the space your dog needs inside it.
Departure, connections and destination are considered together.
We help organise documentation and the agreed accompaniment arrangements.
We clarify the handover location and any onward support included in the service.
A Dachshund’s long body makes carrier length particularly relevant. A bag that seems suitable for another dog of the same weight may not provide an appropriate fit for your Dachshund.
We assess the space available for your dog’s natural posture and movement. Folding or compressing a carrier does not make an unsuitable fit acceptable. The Miniature label is also not a substitute for measuring the dog who will actually travel.
Where cabin travel is unsuitable, we can assess accompanied hold travel if the itinerary permits it. We explain the available arrangement before confirmation, so you can make plans around a realistic option.
Before choosing a flight or buying another carrier, gather:
Does your Dachshund want to investigate every new smell, or prefer to watch from a familiar spot? Tell us about their habits and what helps them settle. Introduce the carrier before travel day and allow time to build familiarity. If your Dachshund has an existing back condition, mobility limitation or discomfort, ask your veterinarian to assess fitness to travel and provide handling guidance. We can use that information when assessing the service.

The assessment considers length, not just a number on the scales.
We review the carrier and itinerary before confirming the arrangement.
You can tell us about specific needs before collection or check-in is organised.
Possibly, when the dog and carrier meet the operating airline’s conditions. Body length may be the deciding issue even for a lightweight dog.
That alone is not enough to establish suitability. The assessment must consider the space required by the airline and your dog’s ability to occupy the carrier comfortably.
Not automatically. A flexible exterior does not remove the need for enough usable space inside. Send us the dog’s measurements and the carrier dimensions before relying on it.
UniPetrans can assess a dedicated accompanying specialist, subject to the route and entry conditions. The agreed plan will specify whether the dog travels in the cabin or as AVIH in the hold on the same flight.
The route, dates, accepted travel arrangement and collection or handover needs determine the proposal. We provide an individual quotation after reviewing those details.
Tell us where your Dachshund is travelling, when you hope to move and whether a carrier has already been purchased. Include measurements so we can assess the next step accurately.
