UniPetrans brings hands-on Great Dane travel experience to assessing your dog’s international journey, including kennel logistics and accompanied flight feasibility.

That towering presence beside you. The familiar lean that says they would rather be close. If you share your life with a Great Dane, you know how much companion comes with that size.

Assessing Your Great Dane’s International Journey

For a giant dog, feasibility comes before flight selection. We begin with the dimensions and arrangements that can determine whether a proposed journey works.

1

Measure Your Great Dane

Share current weight, standing height, body length, width and photographs that help us understand the measurements.

2

Assess the Kennel

We review the space your dog needs, the proposed kennel’s external dimensions and its own weight.

3

Check the Itinerary

Breed acceptance, aircraft limits, combined weight and available accompanied options are checked for each segment.

4

Plan Ground Handling

Vehicle space, loading, unloading and access at collection and arrival are considered before confirming the service.

5

Coordinate Documents and Accompaniment

We align preparation with the feasible itinerary and specify accompaniment and handover in your quotation.

Travel options and individual planning

Great Dane Kennel Logistics and Airline Restrictions

An adult Great Dane requires an assessment of accompanied hold travel where the operating airline and route permit it. This is not simply a standard large-dog booking: your dog’s height, kennel dimensions and combined weight can substantially narrow the available options.

We have travelled with Great Danes before and understand that the kennel has to work throughout the journey, not just at check-in. It needs suitable space for the individual dog, while also meeting the operating airline’s acceptance requirements. We do not solve an aircraft limit by recommending a kennel that is too small for your dog.

The ground arrangements deserve the same attention. Can the assembled kennel fit into the proposed vehicle? Is there suitable access at collection? How will loading and unloading be arranged? Who will receive your dog and the kennel at the other end? These questions form part of assessing the journey.

Some airlines exclude Great Danes from hold transport entirely. Others impose limits that may rule out a particular dog and kennel combination. We assess the actual journey before offering accompanied travel. UniPetrans does not offer manifest-cargo transport; if a route requires it, it falls outside this service.

With accompanied hold travel, the accompanying person travels on the same flight but cannot remain beside your dog during the flight.

Measurements, Ground Handling and Travel Preparation

Many owners recognise an affectionate companion who likes to stay close, despite taking up rather more room than a lap dog. Tell us about your own Dane: how they approach new places, accept handling and settle in a kennel. A reputation for gentleness does not tell us how an individual dog will respond to travel.

Please send:

  • Age, current weight and accurate standing measurements.
  • Proposed kennel dimensions, weight and photographs, if available.
  • Experience entering, turning and settling inside a kennel.
  • Departure and destination cities, approximate dates and any fixed commitments.
  • Collection and delivery access, vehicle arrangements and onward travel needs.
  • Identification, vaccination records and any veterinary guidance relevant to travel.

Allow time to introduce the correctly sized kennel before departure. If your Dane is still growing, tell us the planned travel date; current measurements may not represent the dog who will travel. Existing mobility or health concerns should be assessed by your veterinarian and shared when we review the practical arrangements.

Frequently asked questions

FAQs About Flying With a Great Dane

Can an adult Great Dane fly internationally with UniPetrans?

We can assess accompanied travel for a specific journey. Acceptance depends on the operating airline, breed policy, aircraft, route and your dog’s kennel and weight. Previous experience with Great Danes does not mean every itinerary is feasible.

Can my Great Dane travel in the cabin if I buy another seat?

An additional seat does not establish permission for an adult Great Dane to travel as a pet in the cabin. Our assessment for an adult Dane focuses on permitted accompanied hold arrangements, where feasible.

Will a standard giant-size kennel be enough?

A product’s size label is not sufficient. We need the dog’s measurements, usable internal space, external kennel dimensions and combined weight. Do not buy a kennel for a flight until the proposed arrangement has been assessed.

Can a specialist travel with my Great Dane?

We can assess specialist accompaniment where the itinerary permits it. For accompanied hold travel, the specialist is on the same flight but cannot remain with your dog in the hold. The quotation explains the agreed support before departure and after landing.

What happens if the airline cannot accept my dog or kennel?

We explain the constraint and assess whether another accompanied itinerary is possible. We do not promise an alternative, recommend an undersized kennel or offer manifest cargo as part of this service.
